One of the most important difficulties you'll face when deciding to release your album or EP in a physical format is the artwork. When producing and, finally, printing your music artwork, mistakes are quite simple to make. We've decided to list a few typical errors in the physical medium, particularly CD cover printing, as we regularly deal with prints (and musicians).
Designing CD Covers Is Important
Because we are all visual beings, pairing our music with appealing visuals is important. Even in this day and age of digital music, most musicians' income still comes from CD sales.
List a few mistakes to avoid getting your artwork printed correctly.
Incorrect Size
Each CD sleeve printing is essentially a different size. Making your artwork square and hoping it complies with the standards is the most frequent error we observe. Your files would frequently be incorrect, and you would have to resize them later.
Low-Quality Pictures
The submission of low-resolution photos for printing is another fairly typical error. Three hundred dpi is the bare minimum acceptable resolution. On your computer, your photographs can appear "okay," but when printed, anything with a resolution lower than 300 dpi may have blurry details.
Typography and Poor Color Choices
Poor color and font choices are less frequent, although they still occur occasionally. Once the artwork is produced, it will be extremely difficult to read if the text size is too small.
Not Doing a Proofread
Everyone knows how simple it is to miss a letter or create an error. You should always check your text two or three times because of this.
Insufficient Bleeding
Each panel needs a 3mm bleed (extra artwork space) to cover the sleeve's folding sides to prevent any white spots from appearing on your CD sleeve.
If you don't leave enough bleed, the sleeve's original color (often white) will show through at the edges.
Endnotes
You can prevent the error of CD cover printing by noting all the problems above. The good thing is that you now know what they are and can select the ideal specialist to assist you throughout the procedure.
